Train the Trainers
The African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) conducted a Training-for-Trainers event in Johannesburg, South Africa from June 25-27, 2014. The Training-for-Trainers (T4T) event was a three-day workshop that provided participants the tools and resources they need to share their skill sets with other African female entrepreneurs. This event was designed for AWEP alumnae and members who indicated that they have received training or hold specific expertise in a technical area.
Participants will conduct two training sessions for their chapter over the next year, one sharing their particular expertise, and the other one being a training session for other skilled members. In addition, participants also agreed to either attend the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit or submit at least three proposals for capacity building grants on behalf of their chapter over the next year.
Training session was conducted by June Rudman of Human Way. The first day of the T4T session was focused on training needs analysis, learning styles and preferences, and training module development in general. The second day focused on the more practical aspects of developing trainings, including planning a training event, proposal and grant writing, the theory of training delivery, and the application of training delivery. The last day continued with training delivery and culminated in participants developing their own action plan for the chapter. Upon completion of the training and proof of a developed action plan, all participants will receive certification as an AWEP Trainer.
